Day Trip for Spring Break with Real Florida Adventures

Inspire Future Astronauts at Kennedy Space Center

Located due east of Orlando, Kennedy Space Center is a must for any family holiday in Florida.

Established in 1968, KSC was responsible for the Apollo, Skylab, and Space Shuttle launch operations. Today, it’s still NASA’s primary launch centre for human spaceflight.

The Visitor Complex is home to various exhibits showcasing the facility’s history and its essential role in the space race.

Beyond that, other unique sights include a Space Station factory, the Launch Control Center, a three-mile-long Shuttle Landing Facility, and the Vehicle Assembly Building.

The latter stands an incredible 525 feet tall and is where NASA stacks its largest rockets.

With so many awe-inspiring things to see and do, our Kennedy Space Center tours in Florida are one of the best family activities to do here.

Support Marine Rescue and Rehabilitation at Clearwater Marine Aquarium

The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is one of Florida’s hidden gems. It offers the perfect combination of family entertainment and a genuinely good cause. This attraction is an animal sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured or sick marine animals.

What’s more, a recent $80m expansion has made the Clearwater Marine Aquarium an even more exciting and intriguing place to visit.

But let’s not forget about the animals! As an animal hospital, the comings and goings affect what you can see here. However, there will always be viewings of:

  • Sea Turtles
  • Dolphins
  • Stingrays
  • Sharks
  • Pelicans
  • Otters

With the white sands and turquoise water of Clearwater Beach a matter of minutes away, Clearwater Marine Aquarium trips keep kids entertained and adults engaged. Best of all, our packages include lunch!

Swim with Manatees and See Exotic Wildlife at Crystal River

Located on Florida’s Gulf Coast some 80 miles northwest of Orlando, Crystal River is the manatee capital of the world! It’s the only place in the US where you can legally swim with these gigantic creatures.

The natural springs feeding into Crystal River flow at a constant 72 degrees. This makes the water here attractive to swimmers of every species, especially in the winter. And as the name suggests, the water here is crystal-clear too, providing incredible visibility.

But Crystal River manatee tours take in far more than these eponymous animals. A visit to Homosassa Springs State Park is a trip to the home of the Florida panther, red wolf, black bear, alligator, bobcat, flamingo, and whooping crane.

Nearby Nature’s Fish Bowl, an underwater observatory, keeps the family fun times rolling. Descend below the surface and wow your kids with a unique perspective on a huge number of fish!

And there’s even more for kids to enjoy in the area! Take an airboat ride on the Withlacoochee River and skim through the water, and see even more wildlife, at a thrilling 45mph!

Embrace the Wild Side at Wild Florida

Wild Florida welcomes visitors to the wild side of the Everglade State. This 300-acre site lets families feel the thrill of seeing and interacting with native and imported wildlife.

Wild Florida’s Drive-Thru Safari Park provides a rare opportunity to get up close with animals you might otherwise only see on TV, including:

  • Giraffes
  • Zebra
  • Eland Antelope
  • Scimitar Oryx
  • American Bison
  • Mouflon Sheep

Families can then take to the giraffe feeding platform to hand-feed these majestic animals, creating memories, and taking photos, that will last a lifetime!

Wild Florida also has a 14-acre Gator Park with even more animals to see. These include bobcats, lemurs, two-toed sloths, Florida panthers, and, of course, alligators!

A Wild Florida experience gives both kids and adults plenty of stories to tell after returning home.
